Investing in Education – Igniting Change

Our Purpose

We are Women United. We fight for the education of every child in Dane County. Our local network of more than 800 individuals is an emerging force, investing in and advocating for quality educational experiences from early childhood through high school. Help us reach more children and set the stage for success in school and in life.

Our Impact

We Ignite Change. Investing in early childhood education leads to improved long-term health outcomes, earnings and educational attainment. Through both programs and policies, we can strengthen the whole educational pipeline from birth through adulthood. 

In 2019, we accomplished the following:

Children and their families received home visiting through ParentChild+ and 88% of 4-year-olds are 4K ready, exceeding the national benchmarks for the 4th straight year.

families served through Early Childhood Zones, a public-private partnership providing early childhood development support through home visiting programs, family stability support through housing and employment programs to parents.

elementary, middle and high school students (57%) received 15+ hours of tutoring in reading and math.

Congratulations to Fabiola Hamdan,2020 Women United Philanthropy Award Recipient
Women United was honored to present Fabiola with the 2020 Philanthropy Award at the annual Women United Breakfast on September 30, 2020. As an Immigration Affairs Specialist for Dane County and an active community volunteer, including chairing United Way of Dane County’s Education committee, Fabiola is a leader in investing in the well-being and opportunity for youth in our community.

Women United Philanthropy Award
Each year, this prestigious award celebrates and acknowledges a woman who is committed to helping make our community a better place to live, for all. The award also honors her achievements in educating, empowering and inspiring women and young girls to be philanthropic leaders in Dane County. Congratulations to our past recipients!
