Our 5th class of eleven BoardWalk Academy participants is about to graduate and they will be ready to serve on nonprofit boards…yours could be one of them!
BoardWalk Academy builds the knowledge, confidence, resources and connections for individuals who are under-represented on nonprofit boards and committees. During six weekly sessions, participants learn about the roles and responsibilities of nonprofit boards, how they function, and the important role they have in the provision of services in our community in addition to learning about their own leadership style and skills.
The goal is for participants to feel comfortable with the expectations of board members and to begin serving in a leadership capacity on a nonprofit board or committee.
The board of a nonprofit is tasked with making the governing decisions for the organization, so recruiting board members who represent the agency’s constituency, who have a diversity of skills and experience, as well as passion and commitment to your mission is vital.
Our graduates have skills, personal and experiences to bring to the table and now have excellent leadership training. And they are interested in making connections with nonprofit organizations recruiting for board and committee members.
This event is to make an initial connection with our graduates. If there is someone who seems to be a good potential fit, you would still go through your regular vetting process as well as orientation and training if they are placed on your board/committee.
So, we hope you can join us and meet this amazing group of future leaders.
Please register for each staff/board member attending representing your organization. Prior to the event you will receive a list of the graduates who will be present and a brief bio including their skills and interests.
