The Toys for Tots program offers hope, dignity and a sense of belonging during what can be a very difficult time of year for many. While Dane County remains a top place to live, raise a family and retire, that’s not the case for many of our neighbors. In fact:

More than 57,000 people in Dane County – which could fill three quarters of the seats in Camp Randall – live in poverty and are struggling to afford basics like housing, childcare, food and health care.

This includes 2,500 children under the age of five.

Many families struggle financially, especially during the holidays. Low-income households often face pressure to provide a happy holiday experience. Donations ease that burden, allowing them to focus on essentials like rent, food and other necessary expenses.

Toy donation drives help ensure that children with struggling families or support systems don’t feel left out. For some kids, it may be the only gift they receive. Toys are more than just entertainment – they help children develop imagination, social skills, motor skills and emotional resilience. Donations can help level the playing field in early childhood development for disadvantaged children.
