VolunteerYourTime.org is an online database that is available to help agencies post their volunteer opportunities, run through a partnership with the United Way Volunteer Center, Madison College, Edgewood College, and the Morgridge Center for Public Service at UW-Madison. By having your volunteer opportunities listed at VolunteerYourTime.org, the general public and our staff will know what positions are available at your agency.
Visit www.volunteeryourtime.org and click on the “Sign Up” tab. Click on the link that says “Agencies looking to recruit volunteers CLICK HERE”. The site will then prompt you to create an agency account and list your volunteer opportunities. Once you have created an account one of our staff members will contact you to set up an in-person appointment.
Business Volunteer Network (BVN)
Business Volunteer Network (BVN) is the local resource for developing and coordinating workplace volunteer efforts. BVN provides programs that can help build employee skills and attitudes that foster organizational commitment, company loyalty, and personal fulfillment. If your organization is interested in connecting with the Business Volunteer Network, contact Kathy Martinson at (608) 246-4356 or kathym@uwdc.org.
One Day Volunteer Events
Global Youth Service Day in April and Days of Caring in August mobilize large groups of volunteers to complete community based service projects in Dane County. Once you have an active account on VolunteerYourTime.org you will be invited to register your projects for these events.
Media and Social Media
Each week we run ads in the Isthmus, Great Dane Shopping News, Fitchburg Star, Oregon Observer, Stoughton Hub, Verona Press, on WYOU cable Channel 4 and our social media that feature volunteer opportunities in agencies registered with the Volunteer Center. The ads serve as a great recruitment tool for on-going opportunities or special events. We can also highlight opportunities on the front page of VolunteerYourTime.org, and our social media sites. To publicize your volunteer opportunity, email Melanie Lucas at mlucas@uwdc.org.
Holiday Information Program
The Volunteer Center gathers information about agencies’ donation and volunteer needs for the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Hanukkah holidays. We let the public know about how they can help and work with companies and other groups to help them organize a holiday project such as a giving tree, food collection or special events. Each holiday season we publish the United Way Holiday Wishlist in the Isthmus newspaper which contains holiday needs of VolunteerYourTime.org organizations. Learn more.
