2022 Micro-Investment Grants Initiative
The United Way of Dane County’s Community Engagement Committee (CEC) is pleased to announce the availability of $50,000 in grant funding, made available through its 2022 Micro-Investment Grants Initiative.
On March 15, the CEC will begin accepting proposals from grassroots organizations: community groups, nonprofit agencies, faith-based organizations and other groups – with an annual operating budget of $50,000 or less – that are working to achieve racial equity and social justice for Black, Indigenous, Latinx and Southeast Asian individuals and/or families in Dane County. One-time grants up to $5,000 must be used no later than December 31, 2022.
A 501(c)(3) status is NOT required to apply.
However, organizations that are not official nonprofit organizations must identify a fiscal sponsor.
Eligibility Criteria:
– Awardees must exclusively serve residents of Dane County, Wisconsin.
– Programs/services offered must work to achieve racial equity and social justice for Black, Indigenous, Latinx and Southeast Asian individuals and/or families in Dane County.
Note: All grant recipients will be asked to report a success story/statement of impact and photo(s) the funds provided in Dane County by January 16, 2023. (United Way of Dane County will provide a reporting template to grant recipients).
Applications will NOT be considered if:
– The applicant is a person. Only organizations will be considered for funding.
– The organization’s annual budget exceeds $50,000.
– The organization has previously been awarded a micro-investment grant for the same program.
– The organization currently receives programmatic funding from United Way.
Note: United Way partner agencies may serve as the fiscal agent to another organization.

Racial Equity is the intentional and continual practice of changing policies, practices, systems, and structures by prioritizing measurable, positive change in the lives of people of color. It is the non-existence of racial disparities.
