Disaster Response

United Way of Dane County is committed to the safety and well-being of everyone in our community. Below are resources for professionals and individuals who are interested in volunteering in the case of a disaster.

Wisconsin Emergency Assistance Volunteer Registry (WEAVR)
WEAVR is a web-based online registration system for Wisconsin’s health professional volunteers willing to serve in an emergency. WEAVR is developed to facilitate health and medical response through identification, credentialing and deployment of volunteers.

Wisconsin Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (WI VOAD)
Wisconsin VOAD is the forum where organizations share knowledge and resources throughout the disaster cycle – preparation, response and recovery – to help disaster survivors and their communities.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educations volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, which allows them to focus on more complex tasks.

Medical Reserve Corps
A national network of local groups of volunteers engaging local communities to strengthen public health, reduce vulnerability, build resilience, and improve preparedness, response and recovery capability.

Team Rubicon
Team Rubicon is an international disaster response nonprofit that unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly provide relief to communities in need. Founded in 2010 with the expressed goal of quickly responding to large-scale disasters, Team Rubicon has deployed thousands of volunteers across the United States and world to provide relief to communities in need.
