BVN at Community Kickoff

United Way of Dane County had another successful Seasons of Caring: Community Kickoff! Over 800 volunteers gathered at the Mallard’s Duck Pond in Warner park on August 20, 2019 to celebrate the start of the United Way’s annual campaign.

Volunteers donned their Champions for Change shirts as they enjoyed food and beverages before the volunteer projects. There were many projects to choose from including making paper product packs, creating reusable grocery bags for food pantry clients, assembling feminine hygiene packs, dental hygiene kits and can labeling.

There were some familiar faces in the reusable grocery bag area as BVN members worked to make shopping bags out of t-shirts. The bags will be used at Middleton Outreach Ministry and Community Action Coalition.

Many thanks to United Way’s community partners, who received all completed packs following the event: RISE Wisconsin, Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin, Community Action Coalition for South Central Wisconsin, Middleton Outreach Ministry and Access Community Health Centers. Together, in just one hour of volunteerism, Community Kickoff attendees helped invest nearly $50,000 back into the community benefiting families across Dane County.

A special shout-out goes to these BVN businesses who were sponsors of this year’s event: UW Credit Union, WPS Health Solutions, Total Administrative Services Corporation (TASC) and Reynolds Transfer and Storage.
