Madison, WI (March 28, 2016) – Spend a spring day with your friends and family while building a better Dane County for all. United Way of Dane County is proud to join organizations in more than 100 countries to celebrate the 28th Global Youth Service Day on April 15th-17th.

We are looking for volunteers between the ages of 5 and 25 who would like to volunteer as part of Global Youth Service Day. The world’s largest service event recognizes youth volunteering and the positive impact the next generation has on our community. Last year, 4,000 Dane County members volunteered and this year, we want even more people involved!

The public can register for volunteering opportunities here.

The 2016 Signature Project is creating new homes for Dane County families on Madison’s north side. We are looking for volunteers to clean and paint empty apartments and get them move-in ready for homeless families.

Other opportunities include:

• “Spruce up” the outdoor area at St. Mary’s Adult Day Care Health Center. Rake, sweep and clean chairs and tables for the residents!
• Spring clean UW Arboretum’s horticultural gardens. Learn about the garden and get it ready for the upcoming seasons!
• Organize storage and clean toys at YMCA Madison. Help create a clean, safe environment for Madison’s youth to play!

You will find these and many more volunteer events listed here. We encourage you to pick out an event that interests you and sign up. The registration deadline for Global Youth Service Day is April 8th. Participate alone or get your friends together and create a team to celebrate!
