Q: Why do you support United Way?
TP: I support United Way because it’s a really easy way to have an impact on society. I trust that the right things will be done with my money, and I know it will be spread out amongst the community and good things will be done with it.

Q: What do you think is the most important role United Way plays in our community?
TP: I think there are two big roles. The first is the role they play for children. I passionately believe that no matter what a child’s circumstances, that if the community surrounds them they can be better people. The second is, since my parents are getting older, I think helping our elderly is very important. With my parents taking prescription drugs and making sure the potential interactions between those are safe, United Way is a good resource to find information. So I think those are the two populations that people should really invest in.

Q: Why do you think volunteering in the community is important?
TP: I volunteer because I always get more out of it than what I give. Whether it’s helping other people or making a difference there’s never been a time when I didn’t feel better afterwards. It allows me to slow down, explore something different and come back a better person.
