Talk to Your Family About the Financial Impact of Being a Caregiver:

  • Talk to your siblings and other family members about the costs involved in caring for a family member.
  • If you can work out a payment plan you may be able to set up a Simplified Employee Pension(SEP) which would set up a small-employer type pension plan.
  • Research retirement plans at www.wiserwomen.org on the Retirement Plans page.
  • Think about who will care for you when you need care later in life, look into a Long-Term Care insurance policy.
