Housing • Provide affordable supportive housing appropriate to the needs of women and families who are below 30% of median income.

Predolin Housing First: Rapid ReHousing • In this Housing First model, homeless families are placed in permanent housing as quickly as possible and are provided stabilizing support services to prevent a recurrence of homelessness. The Rapid Rehousing Program, funded by a special grant from the Predolin Foundation, is a collaborative effort of The Road Home (formerly IHN), the Salvation Army, and the YWCA Madison. The program provides initial housing access costs, limited term shallow subsidy and intensive goal oriented case management to 45 Dane County families with minor children. The program relies on strong partnerships with local landlords. Rapid Rehousing goals include identifying families who are able to achieve stability with strong emphasis on establishing child focused housing stability and include: 1) move homeless families quickly out of shelter into affordable permanent housing, 2) help families successfully maintain stable housing, 3) assist families in working toward their personal goals.

Service Extension • Provides emergency shelter, food, personal/infant care items and transportation for homeless and low-income persons in rural Dane County.

Removing Barriers to Permanent Housing • Provides support to families in the shelter and gives residents skills to quickly leave the shelter and maintain stable housing. Residents attend groups weekly that assist them in their goals of being financially independent. Case management is provided by case managers and shelter staff on a one-on-one basis.

Predolin Childrens Food • Through a special child-focused grant from the Henry J. Predolin Foundation, Second Harvest will distribute to poor children at children's program sites and appropriate pantries:160,000 pounds of fresh produce, 75,000 pounds of cereal and 6 bulk loads of fresh juices or similar nutritious food to meet the special needs of very poor children.

Predolin Mobile Food Pantries • Through a special child-focused grant from the Henry J. Predolin Foundation, three isolated communities have been identified to begin three Mobile Food Pantries: Blue Mounds, Marshall and the Bayview Neighborhood. Volunteer partners are recruited and identified and will distribute approximately 4.5 Million Pounds of food to an estimated 610 children from 190 low income families at those sites during 2009.

Participating in this experience promotes academic achievement and acquisition of employment skills. Participates in the Goodman/United Way Youth Leadership Program.

Neighborhood Senior Center Services • This is a mobile senior program for hard-to-reach and more isolated older adults in the community.

Volunteer Guardianship • Provides qualified adult volunteers to serve as legal guardians for mentally disabled older adults who have no family for support. In addition, provides ongoing support to family caregivers serving as legal guardians, both to strengthen their performance and to increase their comfort and confidence in exercising their legal responsibilities.

Volunteers to Support Caregivers Program • This program responds to the unique needs of individual caregivers with volunteer assistance. Professional volunteers, home care volunteers, advocacy volunteers provide support services including health, finance, legal, support services or shopping, running errands, senior ride etc.

Baby Depot • "One-stop-shop" which helps low-income individuals and families facing multiple barriers to accessing services. Provides diapers and baby formula to families in need. As part of the registration for the program, families complete an eligibility screening which determines what assistance programs they qualify for, allowing us to meet an immediate need and educate famlies about services and programs in the community and how to navigate them.

Health Information and Navigation Center • HINC eases the strain on the 91,622 Madison -Dane County residents who struggle without health insurance and often without the knowledge of the resources that exist to help. The HINC provides transportation, culturally and linguistically appropriate services to address many of the barriers the uninsured and minority communities experience in accessing health care. This light-touch case management educates customers about how to navigate the health care system in Dane County.
