Youth Service Day

Youth Service Day (YSD) is a unique youth-led volunteer event that takes place every April. On Youth Service Day, thousands of youth across Dane County and the world are mobilized to serve their community through volunteer service projects. From building picnic tables for Habitat for Humanity families, to natural prairie restoration and park clean-ups, to organizing educational skits and presentations, youth are volunteering to improve their communities.

"It's a fun way to help the community," said Bailey Billings, a Memorial High School student and Youth Service Day committee member.

Middle school and high school students are encouraged to join the YSD planning committee. The committee typically meets on Tuesday, January-March in the evenings from 5.30 pm-7:00 pm. For more information, download the Volunteer Job Description here (PDF 20KB)

Youth Service Day is a program of Youth Service America and is organized locally in collaboration with United Way Volunteer Center, Madison Urban League, UW-Madison Morgridge Center, Edgewood College, and is sponsored by State Farm Insurance.
