United Way Women's Initiative
The United Way Women's Initiative is an effort to unite local women to make a deeper impact in their community through United Way of Dane County.
The Women's Initiative was formed in 2004 to help close the racial achievement gap for third grade reading through Schools of Hope. The first year elicited so much support for children in our schools that the Women's Initiative was made an annual occurrence. Through the leadership of Dane County women, this initiative continues to support the Agenda for Change and help positively shape the futures of youth of our community.
Members are women who make a financial commitment, above and beyond their annual campaign contribution, to help close the racial achievement gap. People may also make a contribution on behalf of an important woman in their life.
"Women have a rich history of giving–of our time and financial resources. We give because we want to make a difference."
